Turrets

This section details the Turrets menu

Turrets behave just like real world turrets, such as that on a gun. They can aim in a direction independant of the vehicle carrying them, they can have a weapon, or weapons.

Turrets screen

Your standard Turrets window.

To begin, select "New" to make a new Turret.

Has base image - This lets you assign a base image to a turret. This image will rotate with the turret.

Has turret image - This is the main image for a turret. On a real tank, this is the part that rotates and moves the barrel of the tank.

Has barrel images - This image is used for the barrel of your turret. This will draw for each weapon created in Weapons .

Has destroyed image - This is an image to be displayed when the turret is destroyed.

Has a weapon - This is the weapon to be used for the turret. Think of this as does the tank fire a cannon ball or a 300MM shell?

Destruction explosion - This is the explosion to be used when the turret is destroyed.

Destruction sound - This is the sound to be played when the turret is destroyed.

Damaged particles - These are the particles to be drawn when the turret takes damage.

Particle rate - this is the rate in particles/sec that the damaged particles are created.

Turret center offset - This lets you change the X and Y cordinates of the center of the turret in pixels.

Weapon center offset - This lets you change the X and Y cordinate sof the center of the weapon (or barrel) of the turret in pixels.

Base pivot center - This lets you change the X and Y cordinates of the center of the Base image.

Turret pivot offest - This lets you change the X and Y cordinates of the actual pivot point in pixels.

Aiming algorthm - This lets you choose between 4 different aiming methods.

Constant slewing - When this is selected, the turret is in a constant state of rotation.

Random slewing - When this is selected the turret will turn and fire randomly, switcthing direction and speed.

Aim at player location - When this is selected the turret will aim at the player and fire.

Predictive aiming - When this is selected the turret will aim at what it has calculated to be the player's future postion based on heading and speed and fire. This is the most accurate aiming method.

Maximum slew rate - This is the maximume rate in degrees per second the gun can turn. Think of this is a limiter that wont' let your car go over 55 MPH.

Slew rate acceleration - This is the rate in degrees per second that the turret's turn will accelerate. Think of this as how fast you can get up to 55 MPH.

Enable barrel recoil - When this is checked the barrel will have recoil, like a large cannon moving back when it fires.

Recoil distance - This is how far in pixels the barrel will move.

Recoil velocity - This is how fast in pixels per second the barrle moves in recoil.

Recover velocity - This is how fast in pixels per second it takes the barrel to recover from recoil.

Display zoom level - This lets you zoom in on your turret, this is just for the editor.

Turret mode - This lets you view the turret in it's Active, Damaged and Destroyed state.
